Just received a set of front wheel bearings from Minispares at cost of £50.  I thought Timken where the manufacturer?  However these come in a box marked Automotive Bearings Ltd, also says: the classic vehicle bearing components.

The bearing itself is stamped with Timken.

So whats the story, is Timken the manufacturer??

If the bearing has Timkin wrote on it then it should have been manufactured by them

They appear to be the distributors of Timken.

I didn't know that, but there you go.

The other aspect of them is they are sold through Mini Spares and other suppliers as a Kit, which includes the Seals (and in some cases a Split Pin). Timken only make the Bearing Assy and the likes of Automotive Bearings Ltd, 'Kit' them up with Seals and possibly put an OEM type part no. on the Box.
