If you few thats been following me with my project, about the street racer... people have mentioned about going for hydrolialcs...

Now I didn't even know you could get hydrolics for a Mini... Has anyone here got them fitted, or know how hard they are to fit?

I would love the idea of being able to go from motorway/racing low, to non-maintained british road high...
... with out lowering the Hi-los.

All info is a great help, just browsing for now, if its easy, and cheap, I may look into doing it!

IIRC , your going for a low rider street racer? I don't think hydro's give you the best handling?!

If you're thinking about spending a not inconsiderable amount of money on suspension my advice would be buy the most expensive coil over dampers you can afford. You will be amazed at just how well you can make a mini ride AND handle if you put some effort in.

Forget the tricks, leave that to the maccys crew, get yourself some proper suspension sorted and give some seriously quick road cars a hard time.

Well my whole project is making the Mini low.
One problem I have with riding the Mini low, is general driving, such as speed bumps.... pot holes.... show going (most are in fields)

I've got no kits or anything on, full skid pan underneth the car, to help any dangely bits from hitting anything.

Just MiniVanMan spoke about why not going hyrdo, this would be a good idea, but will add loads of weight :w00t:

The Mini will be used mainly as a weekend "fast"road car (Got told off for calling a street racer) so will be sat low most of the time.

I'm with Dan on this one, I'd say coil overs is a much better option. Lets face it, you shouldn't be trying to get over speed bumps too quickly anyway!

Its not that I'll be taking speed bumps fast....
Its if the over all wheel clearence is less than the hight of the speed bump!!!

Last thing I want, is to get stuck on a flaming speed bump lol

My mini is lowered 40mm I think, sits on 10s. It looks low, not rediculously low, but low, never ever had a problem getting over speed bumps. If you go too low you'll just have really stiff suspension and you won't enjoy the ride!

hydraulic suspesion has no affect on the handling of the mini the rams just replace the hi low part!and you also have shockers still .unlike many american car which i believe have no suspention as they run on the rams wth no shockers ;D

So its still a good thing to have on a racer? (well kinda racer)
You wouldn't happen to have any more details on the hyrdo's you've fitted by any chance 'sprint?
