Bonjour à tous!

I have a standard 1275 exhaust, manifold, carb (HIF38 1.5") internal filter set up on my 93 mini sprite, and I have been given a Maniflow 1.75" twin box centre exit system (brand new!!!!) As i have it, i figured i may as well put the complete stage 1 kit on while im there!!

My question is, which manifold, inlet, exhaust downpipe system and fillter/carb set up would I benift most from in terms of power and economy ?

I am aware that the stage one kits are readily availiable to buy but as i already have some of the kit, i am looking to buy seperate components. I am also thinking of a K&N cone filter and stub stack combo.

Is buying seperate components worth while or should i just buy a kit and try to sell the twin box system i have?

Thanks in advance for any information!

For exhaust downpipe I would recommend the Maniflow 'Freeflow'

Thats the one im currently looking at! it seems like a good idea to keep the whole system as Maniflow as the twin box looks really good quality!

Agree with Carbon on going all Maniflow.

A decent alloy inlet manifold would also be good and possibly an HIF44 carb.

Ideally take the head off, gas-flow it a bit and skim to increase the CR a bit.

As above, I'd go with a maniflow down pipe and LCB, plus a decent flowed alloy inlet like the MG metro, or minispares offering. Personally I'd go with a K&N element in the standard air filter housing as opposed to a cone filter, but if you want to experience ear bleeding induction roar, then maybe a cone filter will be for you. I found the HIF38 with a AAA needle was ample for a very similar setup on my 93 sprite & only needed to upgrade to a HIF44 when I also upgraded the head & cam as well.

thanks guys! i think it will be the Maniflow freeflow with the adaptor for the extra length required for the Maniflow exhaust! they also do an alloy inlet manifold.

with regards to the 'ear bleeding' noise from the K&N cone filter, is it really that bad!!!!? my mini wont be a daily drive and i quite enjoy the Mini sound track :D

im not planning on removing the head any time soon, so will keep that and the 44 on the back burner for now.

The needle that comes with most S1 kits is AAM? whats the difference with the AAA you mentioned AVV IT? Bering in mind that i dont know a lot about the carb set up yet! i am reading as much as i can and will be removing and familiarising myself with the engine anccileries when my workshop is ready!
