Indicator Flasher Unit/relay?

Best Answer bob540 , 28 October 2015 - 11:00 PM

Went looking for the unit at lunchtime today and I couldn't find it anywhere behind the column but when I was driving home from work this evening it fell out from under the dash onto the floor. Took me about 15 or 20 minutes this evening to find where it come from but eventually I did and plugged it back in and sure enough I have indicators again! It must have just come loose, think I'd better soften my suspension a bit Go to the full post

My indicators stopped working today (hazards don't work either) so I checked the fuses and everything seems fine. After looking around here and at the parts list on Minispares I'm guessing that it'll be the flasher unit/relay but I'm not sure which type is right for my car and I can't find the unit in my car to compare it with, am I right in thinking that it'll be behind the gauges? If it is behind the gauges will I have to get the dash out to change it out? My guess is that it'll be the combined one in the link below as the hazards and indicators both stopped working but it does say "injection on" in the title but mine is a carb so I'm not sure. I can always just buy both types if no one knows, they're fairly cheap but there's no point wasting money if I don't have to either.

I'm not sure what one would be suited to your car, I'd try to find yours first.

There should be two; one on the bulkhead, top right, by the washer motor. The other is under the dash as you say. No need to remove the clocks, reach up around the steering column and see if you can find the relay. It should be round and silver, two pin. Well, that's what my 1991 Mayfair has got.

Thanks mate I'll have a dig around behind the steering column tomorrow and see if I can find it.

Your car should have one black relay only, as per the link. My wife has a 94 carb mini and that's what she has. If you look around to the right of the steering column up behind the clocks you'll see it.

Thanks MrPeanut I'll try and find it tomorrow and get one ordered. Supposed to have my NCT in the morning, looks like it'll have to wait, typical eh?
