Does anyone have any experience of late 80s/early 90s Minis new? Did they come with any tailored fabric/rubber floor mats from the showroom, option or otherwise? Specifically wondering about my 1991 Mayfair but I guess they were all similar.

The only ones I've seen are rubber reversible ones that can be used in either front footwell. They are quite rare though, I've only managed to find one so far for mine. So still on the hunt for another.

Yeah, as far as i'm aware they were optional from the factory.

Our Thirty came to us brand new in Sept 89, we were 'given' a set of fabric mats, dark grey charcoal colour. but they were really hard to keep clean they were very rough and wouldn't hoover nicely. In 1990/1 bought a set of the reversible rubber mats from the dealer (Charles Clark - Chapel Ash Wolverhampton) Think they were made by Cannon and they had a MINI logo in the corner, great set of mats, still have them and the Thirty!

No not like those, although I do have a set of those in my Clubman (500 miles in last 20 yrs) the set we got were quite thick ribbed carpet with a sort of felt/bitumen backing - I put them into my other Clubman and wore them out after about 60K miles in 9 yrs. Must have been a dealer special as plastic heel mat was embossed with Charles Clark. When I think about the spares that could be bought over the trade counter at the back of the dealership, like NOS early Clubman grille badges, front underriders and side lights - all gen BL and bought for pennies. I only bought what I needed for my 74 Clubman - wish I had filled my shed to the brim with the stuff!
