Can anyone tell me either what size the thread is for the speedometer cable on the gearbox end and/or where can I get one of the unions (don't know the actual name) The bit in this picture with the thread on and bolt securing in place.

Actually all I need is a suitable union with the same thread pitch. I will be connecting a standard speedometer cable to a project box to couple with a DC motor.

Thanks

Luke.

Oh okay thanks for lettinng me know.

I've done some googling and I think I've found the size is 3/4"x26. Now I just need to confirm if that is the case and then find something to use or a die to create somehting to use.

You could still use the part off the cable it would just mean cutting the cable to the get part off

Yeah I think that might be easier. I have thought of an idea that involves a dremel and a cable gland. I will investigate when I get home from work.

Problem solved. I can cut the larger nut off the speedo cable and use one of these to hold it in place. I've got a few of these laying around from when I had a data cabling business. They are normally used on fibre optic trays to secure the fibre cable.

They are actually Metric. The gearbox end is M20 x 1.0 and the Speedo head is M12 x 1.0.
