Hello All,

set out last night to turn the key for the first time on the new engine....no spark

everything is the same as it came of the old engine which ignition wise was fine, apart from the dizzy(electronic 59d) being recurved.

think initially I had the wire from the starter going to the neg instead of the pos but even after changing this had nothing.

going to go down today borrowing my brothers multimeter to see whats going on, what should I check?

also going to clean up where the coil mounts to ensure its earth properly.

Cheers

Make sure it has a cranking ignition live to the coil, all the connections on the coil are clean and tight.

You may also find if all of that is ok - that the module on the side of the dizzy has expired as these do tend to sop working for no reason.

If you wired it up backwards then yes there is a good chance its fried the module.

You will need 12v when cranking the engine on the + side of the coil. That will also be connected to the positive of the electronic module.

the coil was wrong but dizzy was right, suppose this could still blow it

Yes because the connections are via a terminal plate and not through the coil itself - therefore if the coil is wrong so is the dizzy.

Have you checked for power on cranking etc now?

If you have a set of points to chuck back in then you can confirm if the electronic ignition is goosed.
