Rear Fog Light

So my car failed its mot on not having a rear fog light, so i got a cheap lamp from halfords

are these the existing wires of the fog light? if so which one is positive ? thanks Attached File  IMAG1838.jpg   68.97K   18 downloads

You need to get a circuit tester and see which is which and confirm that there is power when the rear fog light is switched on. A circuit tester is very cheap and will enable you to work on the electrics in the future.

Also get a manual with a circuit diagram which shows the colour codes for the wiring. BS-AU7 is the British Standard for wire colour codes.

Blue/yellow is the power supply from the switch, black is always earth on a mini.

Thats the standard wiring colour, unless the diy wiring expert has been there, and then it could be any colour, even 2 or 3 different colours on the same run. I stripped out all the inside circuits on a MGB all wired in Blue, feeds, earth the lot, I always check now if the wiring does not look standard

What year is your car as mine hasn't got a rear fog but mine is 1979!

Rear fog not obligatory until april 1980

It looks like the OP's car is a 1990, so a rear fog is required.
