HT Studs like these are made (or should be) by a rolled thread method, they are not cut. I would not recommend making the threads longer by cutting them. Threads made by cutting (eg a Die) make the parent material weaker.

Not sure exactly which studs, nuts, wheels you mean. Assuming they are tube nuts, you'd very likely be better off drilling the threads out of the nuts and trimming the stud ends if needed. That is if you'll be left with as much thread engagement as a conventional wheel nut. See how much thread engagement there is with the next shorter stud first.
