The one I had was cheap much like
http://www.ebay.co.u...tm/281824011436
Is it worth spending abit more for something a bit more fancy, such as...

I know the price still isn't that much, but I don't like wasting money :-P
Cheers

The best Crimp Terminals available will fail if not Crimped correctly.
The first link you've put up - well, I'll be kind and say IMO, they are rubbish and I'd keep walking.
The second one, well, that's probably getting up to the other end of the spectrum, if you are going to be doing a bit of crimping, say 1/2 a car or more and likely to tinker over the years to follow, then it could be justified.
I have a favourite pair, that I've been using for small wiring, like Auto stuff for a long time, I think it's the happy medium. They look similar to pliers, (also approved by Lloyds for use in marine work), I'll find a pic and come back.

The ones I was banging on about are similar to these

I have all manner of crimping tools from basic hand ones like these to top end hydraulic units, and these ^ are the ones I nearly always reach for when doing car stuff. If I've got a lot of crimping to do, I tend to go for the ratchets as they are lighter on the hands.
While some may knock these basic ones for not applying the right pressure, well, once the jaws meet, you're there - easy.

I only use the ratchet type crimper. The non ratcheting ones are absolutely terrible

Definitely the second pair, I have struggled with the first ones for years, always having to go back and re-crimp connections (usually after a previous electrical item re failed due to wiring). Guy at work lent me a pair of the second ratchet crimpers and the 2 are worlds apart. Paid the extra and touch wood not had a connection fail since, so user friendly too

I gave £25 for my ratchet crimpers years ago and the difference is massive in crimp, I challenge anyone to pull a 6.3mm lucar off when its been done on the ratchet type, where as the cheepo type just squeeze the terminal oval and they are easily pulled off

i dont like any of the ones shown. do not seem to have the right profile for turning the crimp slot properly. What are yours like Kernow?

I got one of these and it's been brilliant, the quality of my crimps improved markedly from the cheapo stripper/crimper combo rubbish.

Still the Ratchet type but like anything you buy the quality on the cheap ones and the professional there is a big difference in quality, mine do a round compression crimp
