What is the function and location of this bracket? It belongs to my '74 Mini. My storage bag label is smeared and it is in my "clutch" parts bin.
Thanks.

It's not the coil bracket. Wrong curvature, and I have the coil bracket.

It has the look of the rear exhaust bracket that fits on the rear of the subframe, but half of it is missing.

Nick, you have a good memory! I looked back and found that I had posted the same question some time ago. No one was able to identify the part. I returned it to its bin with the smeared label. I'm nearly done assembling the powertrain, so it's come to the surface again!

It looks a bit like a home made brake disc shield mount. A bit like this.

I suspect I'll determine what it is in the course of reassembly. If so, I'll report accordingly.
