Soonooo, thought I would fit the second of the window regulators tonight. Drivers side door. This is a new regulator, thought I would treat the door to a shiny new one.

It was a very tight fit as the two new door glass rails were new as well but they would go on. Tested it out of the door and it was all good. Tight as I say, but do-able. When the window was in the door the regulator was harder to fit and I think I didn't get the two arms evenly aligned in the rails. Winding the window up it was very tight but that, I thought, was down to the new rubbers so I wound it right up and all was good.

Unwinding it however revealed some problems. IT was tougher than I expected and then the front of the window dropped.

On taking everything out revealed that the back arm had jumped its cogs as per the photo. Do you think this is salvageable?

Shouldn't be too hard. Wind the winder all the way one way and reengage the second arm.

Been there, done that. Yes, you can disassemble the unit. Wind it to the side where the springs are released, unhook them ant pull them off, take the arms off and back on in the correct position, rest is reverse of disassembly. But - once happened it will happen again. You say the regulator is new? Have it replaced.
