Hello everyone,
I've got a problem with my heater control lever.. It's Seized solid in the 'hot' position, not an alarming problem as winter is looming, yet I'd still like to get it sorted!
Can anyone give me some advice on how I can free the cable and get it working correctly again?
Much appreciated!
P.s my mini is a 1979

Thanks

disconect it from the "tap" first. then i would remove and replace it. can be a bit fiddley getting to the nut on the back but i found replacment was the best cure.

oh when you have disconected it you will then be sure if it is the cable or the "tap" that has siezed up.

If it is the cable, check your engine earth straps.

Not clear whether you mean the heater valve control cable or the heater control lever on the heater box.

However, it's all a pretty simple mechanical system, so decide which part is seized and un-seize it. It might be the heater control lever mechanism in the box which has come loose and jammed, the heater valve cable which has become seized in the outer or the heater valve (on top of the cylinder head) which is 'bunged-up' with 'crud'.

Thanks guys, managed to free the cable with some WD40. The valve attached to the cylinder head was also pretty stiff, so gave that a good spray too!
