I recently picked up this nice little steering wheel for a bargain price on ebay, to replace the tiny little aftermarket one a previous owner has fit on my 1985 Mini Mayfair. I'm not exactly sure what it is - it looks similar to Speedwell wheels I've lusted after seen, but I very much doubt it's an original for the £15 I paid for it :)

Does anyone know where I might find a boss for it?

And, if I'm keeping an eye out on eBay for one, how will I know what to look for? I've seen a couple of Speedwell bosses that look like they may fit this wheel, but are advertised as fitting Mk1/2/3 mini's and having 48 splines - is that standard for all minis or just the earlier ones?

Thanks a million

Looks like a Formula wheel (who supplied to Speedwell). They had a unique boss kit with the square hole, so might be a bit tricky to find. The boss kit comes as a few different pieces - backing piece, metal boss, front piece and then horn button..

About halfway down this page under the "Formula" heading

This is a complete boss kit:

There are a few loose bosses here

A shop in Australia has them listed too

Your other option would be getting a flat boss kit like this and drilling some new holes in the wheel? You'd need to find a boss with the right diameter etc..
