Silly question but is it possible to get a new cone with the hi-lo fixed to it up into its resting place in the subby tower, or do they have to go in separately? Cheers Mart.

Erm i've done it a few times, but only on a bare subby. Last time I did it on the car I put the cone up in the tower first and then the hilo.

You could fit them attached to each other , will need to remove the top arm to do so.

If it's a bare subby and in the car it's definatly doable.

However I will say unless the top arm as newish it could be a bugger of a job to do.

I recently did mine and it was a horrible job without the compressor. Needed about 5 tiny hands to make it easier and had to use mole grips and a jack handle in the end to hold the cone and Hilo in so I could get the top arm back on.

If I was you find a cone compressor locally to borrow so at least the cone is held for you!

Good luck

easiest way is still to fit the cone, compress it with the spring compressor (which also then centres and locates it) leaving plenty room to get the hilo in place and no need to hold the cone.
