I agree with RedRuby, I had a Vermillion 1275GT in the '80s and that was bright orange

The FE number is just an assembley number used when the front end was attached to the rest of the shell in the factory

There were mini city's in that colour too.I agree with RedRuby, I had a Vermillion 1275GT in the '80s and that was bright orange

The paint code for Vemillion is BLVC 118
Blaze was a darker orange used in the early 1970s

Could be the same colour just faded it's amazing what years out side in all weathers does to a paint colour

Vermillion does tend to look a lot more orange than the paint books would suggest. It's one of my favourite 70s colour along with Pageant Blue.

Just to confirm here's a Vermillion car in the sun
and here's one in the rain.
As has been said it looks a lot brighter in the metal than on an old scanned colour chart. The chart I posted is from 1980, but there were no other orange colours available on the Mini from about 1978 to 1981.
