Not sure if this is in the right section but im looking to track down my great uncles old Austin Mini, here's the hard part i have next to no information.  According to my grandmother, my great uncle Vernon bought the mini either whilst he was living on the isle of Guernsey or just before he moved over there back sometime in the late 60s. Now being the straight forward thinker i am i thought to myself "That should be easy ill just find a photo and check the reg!", 2 days later and after an exhaustive search i find a picture only to find that he had a private reg :mmkay: (The reg in question is "1969" i even found the license plate in my grandmothers loft >_<). I have never tried to track down an old car so i've hit a bit of a brick wall, if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where i might be able to look id be very grateful.

-Thanks, Lloyd.

FWIW "1969" is not a private registration. It's a standard Guernsey numbers only registration.

Since the car looks like an early 70s Clubman estate, I'd presume he bought it over there and that some sort of Guernsey historic register would be the next place to ask.

Thanks for the help Jon it didn't even occur to me that it could be a standard Guernsey plate  >_<.

hi i can tell you this is a guernsey number as we only have numbers over here and still do  i live here and looking at the pic i would say it was taken over here as way  back then there were greenhouses everywhere do you know where your uncle lived what was his name is as my father in law worked all of his working Life at the local garage that had the mini agency it work not surprise me that he would have worked on it at some time. but the down side could be that most old cars over here end up in the scrap yard as we have no mot so they just end falling apart.
