Best Answer Batmini , 11 December 2015 - 10:45 PM

Here's mine if it helps.

Off the heater valve, through the manifold then into the heater. Go to the full post

Hi all,

I am halfway through Stage 1 tuning my 998 '89, LCB and exhaust system fitted, water heated inlet manifold fitted and HiF 38 carb serviced ready to be fitted.

My current issue is fitting the hoses to the new water heated inlet manifold. Originally the inlet heater hose ran from the cylinder head around the front of the rocker cover, through the floating heater control valve and then into the heater matrix via the engine bay bulkhead. So the plan was to cut this pipe, route it to the back of the rocker cover and connect into the new manifold and then remove a small section and connect to the other side of the manifold, which will then go through the heater control valve and into the heater matrix. The output from the heater matrix would remain unchanged.

Is this the correct way to plumb the new manifold in?

Thanks for reading

Thanks batmini, as I thought.

Can I just ask what year your Mini is? My heater pipes seem to pass through the bulkhead at a different location to yours. I know that my 89 has been messed around with by the previous owner

1977..sort of, built by myself with what i wanted on it, so may be different from yours. Originally mine passed through different locations, one on one side of bulkhead, the other where the go now (as pic). I moved them to where they are now.

Nice, I think I'll move mine to the same position, they currently run to close to the K&N Air filter.

I've got an 89 city - my heater pipes went through two oval holes in the bulkhead but this fouled the oval instrument binnacle when I fitted it so I moved mine to the same place as Batmini's

How easy was it to re-route? Might re route whilst the 998 off the road

Real easy, just need to cut a second hole in the blanking plate on the bulkhead. The extra hole is already in the box section, so just a 1mm plate to go through. If you look at my pic you will see the holes on the left for the brake and clutch master cylinder, on the right tge holes are the same in the bulkhead just covered with a thin cover plate. Drill a hole, file off burrs and paint, job done.

As above - make the holes so that rubber grommets (if you use them to protect the heater pipes)are as tight as possible round the hoses to stop water running down the pipes into the car.

I used 1/2 inch pipe in the engine bay - you'll then need adapters to join it to the larger diameter hose from the heater.001_zpsccwjhxt7.jpg
