Thanks for your input. Fyi its a hif44, would I still see fuel down the jet? no points( electric ingnition). Don't know how I would get a thimble of fuel in ( turbo hif44 carb with the original plenum).

Here's the layout. Just took the piston and needle off again, used a spare needle to use as a dip stick and nothing on there. Presumably dropping the pin all the way down would reach into the float bowl below. Looks like I'll be stripping the bottom of the carb ( which is a pain)

I am not familiar with turbos in any way so I cannot comment much further on your car's problem.  However, even if you are unable to pour fuel down the carb throat, you should be able to spray a few shots of starter fluid down the air intake below the air filter.  The starter fluid will tell you the same thing as tipping gas down the carb throat.
