Apologies for the probably simple questions!

My Mini 30 needs 4 new tyres. My first query is regarding the size of the wheels currently on the car. There is a casting on the wheel that says '5-JJx12' but when I put a tape measure across the diameter of the wheel they seem more like 13's. Where is the rim size measured from because I'm obviously not doing it right!

The main question I have is what tyres should go on these wheels. Currently they have 165/60R12 tyres fitted but 'the internet' reckons the car came with 145/70R12 tyres, but I don't know what size wheels came standard on a Mini 30.

What tyres should I fit to these '5-JJx12' wheels?

Thanks in advance guys.

Also those wheel are not standard fitment. Your 30 would have had Rover Minilights as fitted to the RSP Cooper.

"Where is the rim size measured from because I'm obviously not doing it right!"

You are measuring the outermost diameter of the wheel.  For tyre size you would measure on the inside of the rim where the bead of the tyre sits...but that's why they stamp the size on the wheel for you  5" wide x 12" diameter

If you were to measure the width the same way as you have measured the diameter...you would get close to a 6" measurement.....which would also be wrong
