I know this question has been asked loads of times but, i used the rubber clove idea and it still didnt work!

Last night my 94 1275 auto mini cut out in the rain and i had to get recovered back to my house. 4th time this week.

Normally when the car gets too wet i leave it for 5 mins and it goes again for a little while. But when i went to work on the car after getting it home it will not start.

Im getting spark, petrol through the fule system and in the carb, checked engin timing and i still cant get to the bottom of it.

Any ideas folks!

How old are the ignition components ?

The distributor is the origional one for the car, the cap is about a year old, ht leads look old. So i have ordered new ones along with a cap a coil and a new set of spark plugs.

I have orderef on of the weather sjield for the car.

But i still cant get it started

Rubber glove is a bad idea imo, just creates a sweaty condensation trap, electronic ignition and a weather shield with nice supple ht leads and it will go through floods!

The car has a digital distributor. And i have ordered the weather protecter and all new ht leads cap sparks a coil. But atm i just cant get tbe car to start.

What's the inside of the dizzy cap like?

Its great really clean. Drum atm and not cracked

I could be wrong or possibly a long shot but it might be worth checking that damp isn't getting into the inhibitor switch for the safe start on the auto. If I recall, the inhibitor switch on 1275 autos is located in a cast box at the bottom of the front panel. Might be worth a look. This is the device that stops the engine being started if the selector is not in neutral. Damp ingress might cut the engine??

How have you checked that your getting spark?

 

Have you pulled the Bell off the Carb and looked to see if there's fuel in the Jet?

 

Have you pulled the Spark Plugs out to see if they are wet or dry?
