Clutch And Flywheel Removal

bought one of those halfords laser pullers, all the bolts are straight, and the flywheel teeth jammed through the starter, but its amazingly difficult to get it to release, am I doing something wrong, Im using a breaker bar and I just cant get it to pop off, am i doing something wrong?

Try some lubricant on the threads of the centre bolt of the puller and add a bit of penetrating oil on the crank taper. Work the centre bolt back and forth. Take a look at my contraption to lock the flywheel and to hold the engine when tightening and loosening bolts for some other thoughts.

the engines also still in the car, but thanks ill lubricate the bolt and shaft

you've removed the locking plate haven't you?

Sometimes they can be a right nightmare, you may need a longer bar and you may need to leave it under tension overnight

they also like to be shocked with a lump hammer but you'll struggle with it in the car still

ive done all of the above, my current problem is one of the three bolts on the puller keeps popping out and is starting to mash the thread!

that's not good, the thread it screws in to is probably knackered/stripped

There are 2 sets of bolts with different threads, are you using the correct ones?

its off, yes i was using the wrong ones, but all is good, just a very oily 500mile old clutch plate

Fine. Just make sure you use the right threaded bolts. My only problem is a broken/worn bulker ring
