can anyone tell me the size of the oil filter 'screw hole' on a normal carb engine?

Don't have the dimensions, but I did take a note of the part number last time I got one from my local motor factor as I've had problems before and had to go back to the shop after dropping the oil.

A COMLINE EOF003 fits my year 2000 MPi cooper and most places will be able to translate numbers between manufacturers.

I used to have the Halfords part number too, but can't seem to locate it now. If I find it, I'll post that too.

The 'Screw Hole' on the 74 - 90 something Oil Filters is 3/4" UNF if that's what you wanted to know.

The Fram number, which is a little easier to cross reference, is PH966b for the standard spin on type and PH4952 for the MPi.  To answer your original question.  The Mpi is 19.2mm and the standard filter is 17.5mm.
