Hello,

My mini restoration will be finished early next year. I have a pretty damp council garage to store it in. I'm going to buy a carcoon veloce and run it of leisure batteries. Carcoon do a kit to convert it and they recon a 90ah will last about 10 days.

Anyone got any suggestions of where to but leisure batteries from?

Thanks

I got my last one from Eurocarparts as they're generally cheaper than anywhere else, plus they give discount for TMF+ membership.

Good idea. They seam like they are already discounted at the moment.

Do you know if certain makes are better than others?

Thanks

I'd second Eurocarparts ...they have an extra ££''s off at the moment if you use XMAS on check-out.

I use a Bosch S5 063 standard car battery as a leisure battery in our campervan...the plate design is better than a cheaper dedicated leisure battery, it's £63 with the discount and you can use it in your mini afterwards and get a 5 year warranty.

Ive been told I need to use a leisure battery rather than a car battery as leisure batteries are suited to the constant low use from the carcoon fans?

A lot of cheaper leisure batteries are just cheap normal lead plate wet acid staring batteries ...it's a bit of a topic at the moment and the Camping and Caravan Club even featured a standard people are trying to apply to cut down on this.

There is some stuff here http://www.aandncara...-technology.php that will explain it ...but my suggestion was based on the following exert ..

We set about trying to find a quality low cost battery.

We stumbled upon the newly announced, Bosch S5/Varta Silver Starter battery that was made using really advanced Technology and techniques that created not only an outstanding Starter battery but a really capable Habitation battery that would charge and recharge like no other battery before it. The technology was so advanced it was patented by the manufacturer with no other manufacturer able to copy it. The Varta incarnation cost little more than a budget Leisure battery.

We tested it to find it outperformed almost anything in the same price bracket, so began telling the World. We then got slated on the Forums because, "you can't use a Starter battery as a Leisure battery".

The reason I suggested it that is with a 5 year warranty and an 063 size you can use it to run you stuff now and then re-use it in the mini later and you can git from Eurocarparts at a good price.

110ah leisure battery in my T4 cost me about £70 delivered off ebay, was about the cheapest I could find at the time.
