Looking to quieter my induction roar down, wondering whether making a setup where the filter is at the front of the car would help quieter things down a bit?

A bit like this but I would have the filter more to the front of the engine bay.

Do you think this would restrict my air flow? I've got a 1380, stage 3 head, 286 cam etc...

Cheers,
Ian

Why would you want to have quieter induction noise?!?!? It's the best noise you can have

What set up do you have now.

You mention stuff but nothing about the carb(s) air filter or housing is present.

No sound deadening on my car - don't want it (weighs too much :-)). For short runs it's brill, 2 hours on the motorway - not so much (unless you love headaches, even with earplugs!)

At present - Hif44, Piper Cross (foam) cone filter (no air box).

Have a look at the airbox vizard made for th ehif44 and try to duplicate it. It will be a lot less noisy :)

That is the problem then. Try the old housing with a new element and the noise will reduce.

Like this: Attached File  image.jpg   66.13K   5 downloads?

Would this be adequate airflow though? I don't mind fabricating something that links to an air filter at the front that would flow better.

Cheers,
Ian

Don't go drilling holes in the standard airbox because it will make more noise.

Cheers guys,

I've looked into the modified air box (Calver's http://www.minimania...aner_test__1288) and it states that the tests were done on a near standard engine. I'm wondering if this air box (even with holes) will be adequate for my modified 1380?

Also does it need to have a K&N element in it or will a standard one do? I don't fancy paying £30 - £40 to find out it's restricting it.

Apologies if this makes no sense but I'm on some lovely pain killers for my back and they are working quite nicely 😋

Ta,
Ian

This is what you want for max peformance.

TH ebest standard filter housing you can get is the one with that big snorkle on a hiff, if you want to retain the standard look

I like it!

I could fabricate one, but out of interest are these available to buy?

Cheers.

Cant buy it but can make it like I did. It makes my 1330 way more fun to drive!( a bit smoother low down, less noise)
