My current project is a MK 1 scamp which I am just starting to get on with as we speak.
I had previously thought i would turbo the 998, but having had a complete K100RS top end waved under my nose I bought that and a friend of mine is currently turbo'ing my old clubby estate with the bits (998 again)

(It is now going to be a turbo 998 - wrote that first bit a while ago now)
Basic Spec:

998 +40thou  A+ T2 turbo with custom stainless manifold.

A+ Helical standard box centre oil pickup, Cross pin 3.1 Diff

Wheels: Cosmic Mk6 10x5 powder coated Gloss black

7.9 alloy 4 pot disk assemblies Adjustable lower arms and tie rods.

Alloy Spacer drums on the rear

Fiesta XR2i Seats

Target of Less than 500kg kerb weight.

Anyway some initial pictures....

This was the initial scamp as had been left for 27 year in a garden...

And when I started stripping the back end the rear subframe basically fell out......

Any way by the time id cut the frame down to the useable parts.....there basically wasn't a frame any more.

I got in contact with the current owner of the scamp car Company Andrew Maclean and asked him if he would re-make the MK1 frame with some strength modifications and.....

So got a solid frame to start on and painted it last autumn in Volvo Polestar blue (Or Ford rebel blue)
With a lot of help from my mate Simon who has my old clubman estate (turbo'd) these days.

Not a huge leap in progress    ( this was earlier in the year)    Mainly due to the IMM in Lithuania, but a couple of pics of it out side and with some fresh brake lines - before anyone says anything yes i am going to put a bias in for the rear line just haven't got round to it yet

Minor update - really minor - usual story no time for your own stuff.

Funds Cant stretch to the K-head Build at the moment, got all the parts but will probably end up in the green MK2 at some point now.

Bought a nice setup from a fella on turbominis  with a nice t2 and manifold so with that have all the parts I need for a comparatively cheap turbo setup.

Floor is in, started putting panels on and seats are sat in ready to be bolted.

Once seats are in steering column, H-brake Seatbelts etc can all go in too.

Stripped the Donor rally-cross 998 A+ to find that a kind previous owner has Centre Strapped the main cap For me which is nice.

Sent the block Down to Lancaster Engines for a full strip dip clean, Overbore +40 and new cam bearings.
The weekend after i sent it Cumbria got 13 inches of rain in 36 hours, Lancaster engines was 4 feet under water which included my block - it was no worse for the wear but obviously the timetable for the work has now gone back as a result.

Couple of pictures:

Nice Pair of XR2i (I think) seats I was given gratis which had been sat in a loft for the last 12 years.

Apologies for my filthy mule block......

DSCN1386_zps2jarzyhh.jpg

And the mess on the toolbox.....in fact lets pretend you haven't seen that....

DSCN1385_zpsxlj8shjg.jpg

So from here on .....

Keep nailing panels to the chassis.

Try and get the engine back to build up.

Wire the thing

plumb the thing.

Everything else.

Easy peasy ill have it done by Friday

(July)

(2017)

(maybe)

Interesting project/concept. Look forward to the updates. I have an amc cub that I'm in the process of rebuilding, similar construction to the scamp.

I think you might have to upgrade those frame joints to gaffer tape for an MoT  :D

What's the fancy manifold plumbing for, Lambda sensors?

Looks like some kind of bypass something? Never seen them before. Project looks awesome though! Always loved the idea of a scamp :)

Manifold was bought from one of the guys over at www.turbominis.co.uk, he had built the rig to compare inner and outer AFR readings via the sampling tubes whilst he experimented with various injection programming options I believe. I got it as he has now built himself a much more beautiful setup....as it happens I just needed a good solid setup to get this thing going.

My setup will be fairly simple for now so ill use one for a wideband and cap the other off till I feel I need it.

As for the corner joints I've been assured that 3 layers of thick brown paper is all you need to pass an MOT - Just look at Kawasaki KH frames for example.
