Hi everyone, the seals have gone in my calipers and there letting air in the system, not good, and since they were abit crap anyway I thaught id do the breaks up abit, my plan is to it 8.4 vented discs to my 1380 , ive heard 4 pots dont make that much of a diference so ill put on standard calipers with performance pads, but will standard calipers fit round vented disks? they are minispares GBD496 cheers.

I don't think the standard calipers will provide enough space for the brake pads with this discs.

Maybe the discs with number C-21A2612 will be a good alternative, as they are not thicker than the Original discs.

Standard calipers will never work on vented discs unless someone does a spacer kit for them. I am not aware of one.

Vented are not really needed on a Mini and you are not likely to actually get them to a temp where they would be much use.

4 pot callipers wil provide a better feel to the pedal and braking effort. They're also lighter so will reduce unsprung mass leading to your suspension actually working to a better efficiency.

Are they lighter? Ok some are but not all. And the surface area of the Pistons is actually less so more pressure will need to be applied at the foot end. Ok pad area may be greater (I am not aware of the areas).

But either way you can't mix and match parts.

I converted my brakes to the metro 4 pot vented set-up, and it seems to stop a little bit better, but lost the very progressive feel through the pedal, which I find annoying. :shy:

:tumble:

I would buy a set of good discs and pads for the standard set-up. IMO. :shades:

I guess mine was a sweeping statement at the better alloy callipers.

I've not weighed them, but I have been told that the cast steel 4 spots from the Metro are slightly lighter than the stock 2 spots.

I have a set of the Mini Spares Alloy 4 spots with stock unvented discs on one of my cars and they are very very good.
