Hi all,

I am as you would suspect trying to tint the rear window using a film from t'internet.  All went well apart from the rear window is curved on two plains, top to bottom and left to right.  Flat film doesn't like this and just produces creases impossible for me to get rid of.

soapy water to put it on as instructed but proving very difficult!!

Any ideas are very welcome please !!

I followed the Mighty Car Mods video of DIY window tinting. I used a heat gun to mould the film to shape, the heat softens the film up a lot and allows you to manipulate it to the right shape.

It takes a fair amount of patience and in my case 3 or 4 practice sheets before I got it good enough.

There's a reason why professionals charge what they do

I'd be tempted to take the glass out so it can be lay flat on it's back.

Would you not risk peeling the tint back off when re fitting?

When I tinted an E Type rear screen (even more curved than a Mini one)  I found that it helped to have two people doing it, and to get the film quite tight when fitting.

I dont think so if you tinted right up to the edge minus a couple of mm and made sure it was really dry, carefully fit the rubber to the glass then fit it before putting the chrome insert back in.
