i dont know why but i wouldnt trust them....

I had a simple heated seat cover for my other car, i found it fine, but other reviewers found that the plug and wires melted!

 

looking at the specs, it will draw about 3amps when one is on

I've got heated seats in my VW Up and love them.

I wouldn't do it the alternators / batteries on the standard mini are not that powerful compared to modern cars and the wiring is very basic. So you would need to add additional fuses

very true, but i would imagine most people have upgraded alternators and batteries over the years? Plus a 6amp dray when fully on, isnt a huge amount? one of those dash heaters draw more current?

 

looking at it again, would be interesting how easy it would be to retrofit to standard mini seats?

Don't know how heat resistant the original foam is, as it was never designed for this and is getting a bit long in the tooth now. I still think warmer trousers would be a safer / easier option for the winter months!
