For sale:

1071 Cooper S Crank Shaft

All markings are as follows:

AEG 171

MOWOG

EN40B

I don't know that much about these parts in depth other than the obvious. I acquired them off of a lovely old gentlemen who I've known for a while. Story goes, he had it reground and a friend of his, working at a Rolls Royce aircraft engine building factory at the time, had it retreated for him. The crank has sat since. It has some dust, dirt and corrosion on it but nothing that can't be cleaned up with a polish. The treatment coating is still on the journals but I believe this is a chemical process and I imagine the surface finish can be polished off of the journals. Pretty sure it's not cross drilled. Has one hole in each main and two in each big end.

The chap told me it had been ground +020 on the mains and big ends, but I've measured it with a vernier caliper and I think it's possibly +030 on the mains and +020 on the big ends. I'm not 100% sure on this because my measuring tool is cheapy.

I'm happy enough for the crank to be viewed and measured with your own tools if needs be. I'm in the Somerset area. I'd prefer this to be done before cash changes hands so everyone's happy. I can also deliver within reason for the cost of fuel in the immediate area. Other than that, I do travel up and down the country to Scotland occasionally so can deliver off the M5/6.

Open to offers.

Any additional questions, drop me a pm. More 1071 engine parts to follow.

I'll try and attach some photos

Flywheel taper looks good.

Is it possible to tell how deep pitting is on the journals?

Apologies for the delay, didn't realise you'd replied.

I'm hoping to take the crank to a machine shop this week and get them to clean it up and take a look and measure it properly for me, I'll get back to you.
