Hi,

I started Rupert up a couple week ago and noticed the clutch when right to the floor. Upon inspection, I see that fluid low and was coming out of the dust cover on the slave cylinder so I ordered the repair kit.

I have the haynes manual and for repairs, to remove the cylinder. But is it possible to simply replace the seals whilst the slave is still on the gear box?

Also just wonder what the best way to remove the bits and put them back in. It's freezing cold over here now so wanted to minimize the time I have to spend outside. I noticed that there is a circlip... do I need a special tool as it suggests?

Thanks!

Quicker to just change the complete cylinder, it just slides on the piston

You can do a service on them without removing them from the car, but by the time they get to the stage yours is at, they usually need replacing.

Once you remove the Circlip the internals pop out as there is a spring behind the piston.

All the fluid will come out. And it can also syphon the respect of the fluid out of the MC.

Best to undo the two bolts and raise the slave up and put rags under to catch the paint stripper.

This just happened to mine....I was going to just replace the seals...once I had taken it off..(10 mins)and taken the seals off I found quite a bit of corrosion...easier to fit a descent new one..there around £25...or £15 for the cheap ones....

Thanks, I forgot about them! Ended up ordering it from him and just installed it today as it started to rain and now a snow storm so didn't actually get out for a drive to test it :\

well... tested ok in the driveway (no garage) and no longer leaked, but was hoping to get out for a run before the snow started.

Best way to test is to just pump the pedal like crazy, you don't need the engine started ;)

Took him out for a drive today and works like a charm... after I cleaned up his plugs from sitting for the past 3 months.
