Winter Driving

Had car trouble today with the main family car so VERY RELUCTANTLY had to pull the GT out from under it's winter jumper to get to dentist and then again to pick kids up. It was poring down and more worryingly the roads were salted three days ago. I'm hoping two days of rain will have dissolved the salt and that a good clean finished off with a couple of days with the dehumidifier on will stave off any rot. However, up for suggestions. She's not concours but is mint. She's been undersealed last summer and never been out in the wet (since I've had her).
Is it worth taking her to my local garage to get her up on ramps for a full under wash or am I just being paranoid.
Thoughts, suggestions and general P taking welcome.
Thanks

I share your pain. I hate taking mine out when there is salt on the roads. Mine like yours, is pretty much mint (Jap car) and the thought of it disintegrating - albeit slowly - makes me ill. I guess it is because that is what happened to my last mini over 10 years of daily use - it was also mint when I got it.
I have liberally applied bilthamber clear dynax wax all over the underside, arches etc - everywhere I could get it really! Even so, if I use it in winter I still give it a thorough after use clean, including getting under the arches etc. Doesn't take that long. If you jack up each corner in turn and turn the steering this way then that, you can get a soapy rag to most places, then lots of rinsing with a hose (not a pressure washer, just hose pressure). Bound to help as it should remove most if not all of the salty nastiness. Makes you feel better if nothing else!

Thanks. Sounds like we're on the same page. Usually it's tucked up for the winter but circumstances forced my hand the other day. Will attempt a thorough clean today and post a photo so you can see why I'm protective! I only hope it doesn't freeze in this -5 weather LOL!
What do you drive?

these are cars we are on about here not gremlins? :-p
a good wash will be fine, I used my mini as a daily for 3 years and theres no major damage to show. If snow is bad id actually prefer the mini as its probably the best car I've ever driven in snow.

I'm getting an overwhelming sense of 'MAN UP!'. Just use it. Fair comments.

Just stick a hose up under the wheel arches.
