I'm going to but a set of short bonnet straps, along with some other, seemingly useless accessories (as my wife says), and to put her right, would love there to be a reason for them!

Apart from looking good.

Cheers

They hold the bonnet closed more securely.

For motor-sport they are necessary to ensure the bonnet stays closed. On my 'S' I use some small rubber hooks instead of the leather straps as they work as well.

Always found the leather ones were too hard to undo in cold wet conditions. Like Cooperman, used rubber hook straps.

I've had the short belts and the rubber hooks on mine when it had a fibreglass front. The hooks were much easier to use but didn't look as tidy.

You can just see the rubber hooks on each side of the bonnet in this photo of my old Endurance Rally Mini:

Cool they are, but passing through appropriations is another thing!

Thanks for the replies & shall be going for the period look - tan leather.

Cheers!

I might have one that I bought in error somewhere. I'll have a look if you want
