On idle my car shoots small black deposits that stain the floor behind my exhaust. Also while at idle when im at a red light or so, and i rev off the clutch to move i puff some smoke out the back. Not sure if its oil or running rich. I never had a carbureted car before so im not to sure if Im running rich. Some of my friends said my valve seals could be bad and im burning oil from there. The motor itself does burn a little oil, i top it off every once and a while. Its a 1275 A+. Im pretty sure its all stock and never been rebuilt. Spark plugs look normal. Two of the pistons are blacker then the other two on the top.

The Black Spots you are seeing, it sounds like it's running rich, but this in turn will also cause it to burn Oil, if it's left running Rich for a while, it will cause premature wear of the bores, then it will continue to burn Oil even after the Mixture is sorted.

Have a look at the Air Filter first.

What would the air filter tell me? If the bores were wore out then smoke would constantly be blowing out of the back right? Because oil would be getting past the rings.

One common cause of Richness of the Mixture is a blocked Air Filter. Sometimes, just replacing that sorts the issue.

Black Smoke = Rich

Blue or Blue / White Smoke = Oil

However, the Black Smoke usually has some Blue in it too, just had to see.

<Edit: When it burns a LOT and I really do mean a LOT of Oil, it will turn Black, but you'd be topping up with litres of Oil on a Daily Basis as well as replacing the Plugs ever trip by the time it gets to that stage. >

Oh i see. Well i changed my filter from a stock one to a k&n a few weeks ago and its been the same. It also doesnt burn that much oil. Ill try messing with the carb mixture first too see if it stops it.

had the car long?

might just need an Italian tune up.

moisture in the exhaust can give the same results.

Haha thats what I was thinking. Had the car for about 2 months. Only drive it on the weekends. Only put maybe 800 miles on it. I drive it "spiritedly" though lol
