I have a standard 998 from 89. To which I have installed just a single peco back box basically I cut the second silencer off and welded the peco to it so is a twin box standard ish diameter until the tail pipe.
I like the thought of a little more pep so been thinking of a stage one kit. However would like to keep my current exhaust.
If I separate my exhaust and inlet manifolds with a grinder then fit a better inlet manifold and filter will I end up with similar results or would I be wasting my time.

Cheers
Andy

A stage 1 kit is basically needle valve, air filter and exhaust manifiold, the system from the manifold backwards is your own choice so I'd say you'll be OK with what you have fitted at the moment...

+1

Best to keep the standard exhaust and manifolds complete...

Then buy a full stage one kit

With side exit exhaust(rc40)

They are all poor but if I had to keep part it would be the inlet but only if it still had the locating rings.

And there is little point making the induction side work better if the exhaust is blocking it up.

Also a sharp exhaust diameter change is very bad as well.

It's only sharp at the very tip maybe last 6 inches. Or so. But I hear what you are saying thanks. Will maybe hang fire and just get a full kit at some point. Or just drive it lol
