Now I have painted my mirrors and actually painted the stripe into them. Now my question is how do I go about cleaning up the bit of paint that bled under the masking tape but also keep the straight edge.

I had thought that one the black had dried for a couple of days I would run masking tape either side of the red and use fine sand paper on the red then put a bit of clear coat back on because I want the red to be glossy but the mirror is satin black

All feed back welcome

Not easy to do without damage, did you use fine line masking tape, also it's easier to do both colours in base coat then cover in clear coat.
I would leave it unless really noticeable.

I used the fine blue masking tape. I painted the red first and did a few coats and then cleared over the top. I then painted the black after. There is enough paint on the red to pick the black off it a re do the clear on the red. I might attach some fine sand paper to the end of a pencil and try that or pick it off carefully with a blade. It's noticeable close up and will annoy me lol

Think problem with fine stripes is an airbrush would probably paint it better,

To be fair I think I rushed the job a little so I've ended up taking the paint back off and starting again going to give the red a couple of days to dry then will rub it down and get it smooth then clear coat. I shall then do thinner coats of the black as to not get the edge of the tape flooded before pulling it off

Quite a challenge
guarantee you would of ruined it and it wouldn't have been straight no matter how hard you try not to
If I was doing it I would put the a base coat of red on the mirror as it small , more coats around where the line goes, fine line/mask If it's wider than the fine line is
drop a coat of black peel away the masking
Don't muck about with the line or anyrhing
Clear coat over the lot then flat back and polish

That's what I did but don't think I pushed the edges of the tape down enough. The red line is gloss and the rest of the mirror is satin black so can't just clear over it all otherwise that's what I would have done. Going to do it better this time round lol

You can try soft edging some masking tape but you may struggle to get the sharp line.

fold over some 1" masking tape lengthways for about an inch, then holding the tape over your leg and pulling down move the tape along to move the folded part along the tape until you have the length you require.

I am sure there are some youtube videos describing it as its hard to write down.

Mask off up to the red so you don't damage the good gloss black, and with 1000/1200p wet and dry paper, really lightly sand the edges. Once sanded, polish the whole mirror with cutting compound, then wax with your normal wax/polish!

Out of curiosity, why didn't you use satin black as the base, then stripe over the top?

In my mind there's several reasons to do it that way, but just interested in the reasons for your choice.

Vinyl (perhaps laquered) would be another choice for some people.

Looks good by the way.
