The label should say who is the producer of this oil
According to spares its 1400 ppm zddp which is a lot better than all those cheap 'tin boxed' oils that i wouldnt even reccomend for a lawnmowner..

If Keith Dodd who owns Mini Spares has introduced it as his company's recommended oil, then it will be good.

Like the Halfrauds Classic 20W50?
I've seen many people on this site recommend it..... because it has a picture of a Mini on the tin!
Another (non-mini) classic car site did some research into zddp levels -& it was low, way too low.

I remember saying that, about the picture of a Mini on the tin. It was a joke... you know what those are right?

Theoretically no, but reality doesn't always match. With any of the brands and qualities, the actual crude oil is probably only a minor % of the cost or selling price.
If this was on a par with the £40+/gallon oils then I'm sure MiniSpares would both be pushing that fact HARD and also marking it up more to reflect. More profit for them, but also ironically more sales - the price point drives the perception - if this was £30 then more people would believe and trust that the quality was there than just being told it was and being sold it 'cheap'. People tick in weird ways at times!

I think I'll be sticking with the Valvoline VR1 which I've used for years in my 'S', although I have used Castrol or Halfords Classic in 998's and 850's with fairly standard road engines.
