Replace 1995 Sidewalk Door Check Straps

Best Answer alex-95 , 29 January 2016 - 04:02 PM

Open the door and pull out the pin to remove it from the door. you'll then have to remove your dash  as below you should be able to remove the ball vent and pull it out from there where there will be a big hole in the a-post where the check strap fits it should have a washer and a bit of rubber on it.

Need to replace drivers door check strap (no longer clicking). How do I remove the end attached to the door frame.

All I can see is the flat bar protruding through a square hole which is surrounded by the foam seal. Was told it was probably inside  at corner of parcel shelf. As I have a walnut dash fitted I'm not sure what lies behind.

Any advice very welcome

You can just get to the check strap(I can anyway on my minis with MPI style dash)

I was able to replace mine without taking out my dash by just pulling the vent.
