Last knockings on the mini(1972), fitted new parcel shelf boards, and the vinyl cover that goes over it, also refitted the hessian type sound deadening on the bulkhead(dash side), then tried to fit the rear dash liner, this is the vinyl covered one, oval centre for speedo, oil pressure and temperature gauges, bought from minispares (ALE2927) made by newton commercial so decent quality, I struggled for 1/2 hour then gave up as I was getting to cross to carry on, ive learnt that's the time to walk away, is there a special way to fit these,if anyone has any tips I would be delighted to hear, I thought this would be easy!!Cheers Mart.
Had the same problem. They are ABOSLUTELY impossible to fit in my Mk3 oval clock Mini. After spending hours trying to put them in place and trying all ways, bends and shapes I came to the conclusion that they do not fit...

From memory I think I gently 'rolled' the panels to try and soften the card type backing to make it more pliable.
I think I started at the base, pushing it tightly up to the binacle. You need the ashtray removed to get the top part in.
I think I really 'rolled' that top 'flap' section that tucks under the top rail.
I definitely cut down the part that tucks under the door frame rubber seal.
Don't cut the loose vinyl around the speedo binacle, just push it towards the bulkhead once the dash cards are fitted, it creates a nice seal between the cards ans binacle.
Good luck!

ALE2927 made by Newton Commercial so decent quality,
Don't confuse price with quality. The board that Newton Commercial use is thicker than the original and their panels all seem to be cut just a little larger than factory originals, it's not by much, maybe a few mm, but enough which makes their dash cards and Mk 1 & 2 door and rear liners an absolute nightmare to fit without damaging them. The glue used on their dash liners is poor quality so it never has the correct definition in the corner folds.

have fitted these - patience is key as you dont want to damage them obvs... but they do fit perfectly, just very tight - i think i had to push the window air vents back a little and gentle force, but yes as with most mini jobs, patience is key

Would steaming it gently help?
