I have got myself a 7.5" setup (second hand) to replace my front drums.

I know I need to have a CV suitable for disc brakes, and the second hand ones look ok.

Can anyone suggest any tests I can perform on the CV joints to check they are ok to re use?

They obviously aren't fitted to the car, so any tests need to be done on my workbench.

Thanks,

Rich

Strip, clean and examine the parts carefully. Pitting or excessive wear in the balls or ball grooves of inner and outer is bad, but even worse is side wear in the ball slots in the cage. That is what makes them click, as the balls get out of the plane bisecting the angle between input and output shafts, and jam. Assess the fit of the balls by assembling them to the cage and inner, or look for severe wear marks in the sides of the slots, most easily seen in the two long slots which are there to allow assembly.

If all is well, re-grease with proper CV joint grease only, fit a new gaiter and clips, and put them on the car.
