Hope i'm posting in the right place haha..

Day 1!

21st November 2014

Photo%2021-11-15%2010%2032%2044%20PM_zps

First thing i brought - new gear knob! Cheers Aliexpress!

Got central locking for a Christmas gift with the key remotes installed!

Accidentally locked the keys and remote in the car....

Took 5 people to break into my tiny car!

Central locking sadly didn't get re connected after painting of the car... but hasn't been anymore lock outs since!

Sad day.

She turned out to be suuuuuper rusty! Time for some repairs.. and a broken windscreen.

Me: "No don't take it out you'll break it!"

Flatmate:"No I promise I won't!"

...20 minutes later see him post on the NZ mini facebook group "looking for a replacement windscreen."

Damn it.

Thank god for insurance!

1 floor pan and new windscreen later... it was time to get ready for a new colour!

Colour!

I literally took in my nail polish and a picture to the paint shop for inspiration and walked away with this!

She's feeling a little blue  :shifty:

Picked her up some new bits in exchange fox a box of bourbons!

Goodbye ugly rice steering wheel.

More new editions?  ;D

Interior:

Thought i'd get all fancy and refurbish my door cards with some vinyl and fabric.

The door cards that came with my mini were horrible to say the least!!

Refurbishing them didn't turn out much better.

Manged to make some back ones but have given up on front and dash and thinking of getting some laser cut and then powder coated the same color as little blue!

Sitting a bit crooked but will sort it out!

I've fallen in love with another mini...

I hope this guy doesn't mind me sharing his pics but I found this little beauty on Instagram!  https://www.instagram.com/jacktubbsey/

Really want black flares now!!

What I really love is the headlights! Found some tint off ebay here super cheap and now just waiting for it to arrive! Totally illegal here in New Zealand but i'm sure i'll be okay  ;D

Some treats for little blue!

The sound system in her wasn't that bad when I got her but the speakers were literally put into plastic containers you take your lunch in then covered in vinyl!! Kiwi ingenuity at it's finest?

Thinking of doing some colour changing led rings around the speakers like this:

IMG_9756_zpskkharrx8.png

Will update once I've finished it!

Also wanting to replace the switches inside with illuminated push button type switches, but a tad unsure on how to do it.

If anyone wants to help me out please message me!

Here's some examples:

First pic is a pre made one that is sold by Marcos Controls if anyones after some!

Second some switches on Aliexpress I like.

2016: Finally got a WOF and current rego!

Rust freeee, just put in my new brake hose, got my new headunit & sub going (but the speakers aren't going now ughh)

But also feeling lazy, need to CAD up my dash and door cards to get laser cut already!

Also been thinking of adjustable getting camber arms.

It's never ending really!

2 degrees negative camber is far to much. It will also depend on what size wheels you run in order for it to not impact handling to much.

What type of dash are you thinking of ?

As for wiring up switches it's just a matter of knowing what wire does what in the original switches and going from there. Biggest thing will be more about what type of light is used to light them up as with led light you need to fit another part in to get it to work can't remember now what it's called

Sorry didn't mean to put 2 degrees.

Meant to put 1 but I am also thinking of getting the fixed 1.5 degree arms.

Don't know enough about it really so it's just an idea for now.

Just gonna do a straight dash out of alloy with holes for the odometer, speakers and heaters.

The only issue with the fixed negative arms is that it all depends on what the current camber is on the car as it may not be a true 1.5 degrees. Fully adjustable would be the only way to be 100% sure not any harder to fix and not much more expensive. Would just need to buy a camber gauge.

I made my own dash and it was very hard work but then again it was rather complicated. I originally drew mine on paint then card board then aluminium and had to file and grind parts down slightly to get it to fit right. Was worth it though

Ahh yeah I need to do my research but i'm not having much luck finding anything on the web to do with mini's and camber.

Yeah i'm worried about the fit haha, luckily I can draw it up on autocad and print 1:1 at work to check it out before i get it laser cut, then once it's cut i'm gonna check it's size and adjust it and drill any the holes for it and the door cards before they get sent back to be powder coated so hoping it'll work out okay.

^^ I agree, black arches will make the lighter body colour pop.

Those Jap styled minis are rad. They do the whole retro look really well. Your mini already has a retro colour, so depending on the wheels and arches combination, wing mirrors would look pretty cool.

Ughhh really in love with these super rare wheels. Wish you could get more decent 10" wheels, can't seem to find many goodies.
