Clarity need regarding the fan, does it work or not at all. Get that sorted first then sort the airlock out.

if the fan is not working at all then check for power to the switch first, if the switch is good and power to it then check the power cable to the motor next. Also check the earth as well.

Definitely not stat as jut replaced that and it opens when it should as rad top hose doesn't get hot until the engine is up to temperature - I will flush with garden hose I think - the fan is intermittent may be a lose connection or something but might be worth a new fan by the sound of it.

Check the wiring and connectors first.

My switch failed and also to add insult to injury when i dropped the matrix to replace it (leaking) the power cable had been pinched badly and had to be replaced.

The earth was also bad with corrosion on the connector.

UDATE: Backflushed radiator, some rust but not a worrying amount - diagnosed as faulty fan. I will probably replace. Thanks ever so much for the advice.

Kind Regards
George
