Hi I am currently in a position where I am looking to purchase a mini 1275 GT wood and Pickett. But the seller only has the most recent MOT and no other paperwork to go with the car. How can I find out if it is a genuine margrave wood and Pickett or a replica..
Any help will be much appreciated.

http://www.woodandpi...m/registration/

ask them - they may have details for it

also with no paperwork - assume it's a replica

but it may say on the log book ?

Ask on the Mk1 Forum (link below)....there are several Wood & Picket 'anorak' enthusiasts on there who will know in this long running W&P thread:-

Two W&P 1275GT's are currently for sale:-

An earlier 1972 W&P 1275GT

Hi the one on eBay is the one I'm interested in but the owner can't confirm that it is a genuine wood and Pickett.

at least he is honest - although title on ebay isn't

I like the bespoke baby seat

the interior looks genuine - but could be from a different car - as with the grill

Hi,

This Wood & Pickett GT is not a Margrave as it lacks the expensive Margrave dash & a centre arm rest. This was the 'Margrave' option. Looking at the interior, Wood & Pickett option lists included the cheaper Rokee dash option. Wood & Pickett owned the Rokee franchise in the UK. They also ran Recaro UK franchise too.

There was never a set speciation on cars visiting Park Royal or Ruislip. Cash was King & customers got what they could afford or wanted.

The dash & interior has been nicely trimmed in leather & as someone told me the seats in this car are old Rover items trimmed to match.

The grille is the rarer black one I've seen on very few cars. Maybe the Ventura cut item was harder to source.

What options I can see:

Extra two-tonne
New grille
Cibie under bumper spots
Arches
Wilton carpet maybe with additional soundproofing.
Headlining re-trim
Not sure about that sun roof.

This is a nice Wood & Pickett personalised GT. Although if this guy is flipping it after the it's first eBay listing last week offer him £2,500 & ignore the usual "these are going for £14,000" because those are Margraves with the original paperwork & build number with a folder of receipts.

Don't ask Leatherhead they know nothing & lack interest. Just a shiny parts business (no bad thing) with zero connections to Wood & Pickett before Eddie Collins sold the business & Henlys destruction of W&Ps mini records.

Good luck.

Thankyou for all your input I Have come to realise that it's not a genuine margrave, I read up on wood and Pickett and after reading all about it, I can now tell if one is a wood and Pickett or not. The one on eBay is definitely not a wood and Pickett it is a GT, someone has tried to make it look like one. Again appriciate everyones advice

I wouldn't be so sure. There was a topic about Radford modified minis on the mk1-forum, which didn't have the rear lights or door handles removed for their resprays, even masking around the front grille!
