further to post in June.
A replacement engine has been puchased and looks similar but different.
The engine number is 99hb90p 118081
The engine mounts look different and so does the carb/exhaust manifold/ radiator mounting/ clutch cylinder bracketry.
is this an easy swop? what do i have to do to make it fit ? are all the ancillaries still used.

the engine is an a+ engine, which will fit fine in your mini, the carb is a HIF44 carb and the echaust has an lcb manifold, you can take these of and use your existing ones if you want to, or just get a rc40 echaust to go this engine instead..

the rad and engine mountings could be differant if this has come out of a metro instead of a mini. how much info do you have on the engine, like what it came out of and how many miles its done?

you can do a search for engine numbers, this topic has been covered many times in the past, it should be able to help you..

That's out of a Metro. Just remove the Metro engine mounts, and metro cable clutch bits and fit the Mini engine mounts and Mini hydraulic clutch bits. A straight swap if your Mini has a Verto clutch (mid 1980s). Swap over the manifolds but keep the carb (it's a good time to fit a stage 1 kit though)
Swap over the thermostat housing so the Mini top radiator hose will fit.
There's a bit on the head you'll need to drill so that the heater valve will fit, and you'll need to drill a hole in the thermostat so the water circulates properly as Metros don't have a bypass hose.
Take your time, ask if you get stuck, and you'll have it fitted in a weekend. With practice it can be done in a few hours.
