I have just had some welding work finish on a tub I have, I have stripped all the old paint off now and painting it in zinc primer and I am going to seam sealer the seams but my question is what is best to put on after that to protect, just under seal or is there something else?

There are various materials, but personally I use Schutz. This is black and sprays on. Then you can finish it in body colour, or not, as you wish.

Inside I paint with brush-on red-oxide primer, then spray with standard primer followed by top coat.

I used Shutza as above and then smooth gloss Hammerited over the top to make it easier to clean and add an extra layer of protection.

I like epoxy primer followed by seam sealer where needed, then upol gravitex and then a few coats of body colour, but zinc 182 primer is also very good but you need to be careful when overcoating and only apply thin coats as it can react with brush on seam sealer and some top coats as I found out on my mk1 project. Which is why I now use epoxy.

If it's bare metal then epoxy primer followed by Gravitex then colour and if you want something else then something Dynax or similar.

Don't put Gravitex of Schutz onto bare metal, if it gets damaged then there is nothing to protect the metal.

Just don't leave it in Zinc for too long most of it is porous and does very little to stop rust. My brand new panels were showing tiny tiny hints of rust after afew weeks in zinc. Buzzed it off acid treated then epoxy and it's fine now. I can recommend upol gravitex good stuff.

Tigerseal or if you have access to it Proseal 870B2 which is an aviation sealant with anti corrosion properties. This is my favourite.
