I am hoping to machine up new front side windows for my mini from 5mm acrylic .I will dispense with the winding gear and heavier glass existing and have a sliding arrangement in half of the windows, does anyone know if this has any conflict with the MOT requirements ? Thanks Ferg

But consider polycarbonate rather than acrylic.

Yeh, definitely don't use acrylic as you will make the car really easy to break in to, and will be dangerous in a crash as it splinters and isn't very strong.

I have had 'Perspex' (originally an ICI trade name) in y rally car(s) for many years and have had no problems with them. In fact, all the works rally cars used Perspex unless they were running in Group 1 when glass was required. It is also known as 'Plexiglass' or 'Acrylic' sheet.
My sailplane also has a Pespex canopy.
You just take care not to scratch it when cleaning the DGS off of it after a rally!
