Drove my car at the weekend and when I drove it the first mile there was a severe lack of power in the low rpm and then gradually the power increased in the higher rpm. To give a bit of context, was going at 30mph and it was slowing down in 3rd gear so had to put it in 3rd. Then stopped the car and tried to start her up but she wouldn't start so maybe it could be something to do with the ignition coil, alternator or spark plugs maybe. I'm a novice at mechanics and the car has had s new battery fitted and it is charging. Would like to hear what you guys think

What spec is the car? Does it have the correct advance curve? If not it may be running too retarded ignition and thus killing power. Or it may be the camshaft characteristics if you have a higher performance engine, but thats less likely going by your post.

The mini have is a 1991 rover mini with a 998cc engine. It's all pretty much standard apart from a k-n air filter and different exhaust. It's the first time that it's happened to me and I thought the car was dying on me haha. Could it be anything to do with the timing being reset. As that was done two weeks ago

James, it could be anything from fuel starvation, vacuum leak , ignition system. I can only suggest you start with the usual fault finding checks and service items.
