They're sending a new one out to me. Fantastic, hopefully all should be well once the new one arrives.

Thanks all.

Hi folks.

Does anyone use this on their Mini? In my car, I have a rocker switch setup for my wipers over a stalk - Off/ Slow/ Fast and I'm having a few issues with it.

Trying to solve my problems, a quick Google lead me to a page on these forums, although from a good few years back now. I'm hoping to find out what the issues were back then (as touched on by Dan in the following link) and if people are using a Smartscreen with their Mini's these days, if so, hopefully successfully.

http://www.theminifo...tent-wiper-kit/

I can't get the intermittent function to work. My wipers work fine without the unit. Off, slow, fast. With the unit plugged in the slow speed stutters on first wipe but is fine thereafter, fast works as it should. A quick flick to slow and off again should engage the variable intermittent, but it doesn't register on mine.

In a nutshell. Anyone using the Smartscreen unit today and if so, does all work well?

MOD EDIT: you do not have to post, but if you post make it useful and relevant. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO BE RUDE TO NEW MEMBERS BASED ON A SIMPLE SPELLING ERROR.

Being that you cant even spell the name of the country you claim to come from correctly, and your post makes no sense, I'm out

he has hit the 'a' instead of 's' - only a typo

It's just an programmable intermittent wipe for an old car

rocket..aaah "rocker"

I'm beginning to understand that spelling and grammar are not relevant anymore to make a cohesive sentence...

Perhaps like using "an" instead of "a"

Excuse me ;o)

Thanks for the more than helpful reply. Obviously two miss hit's when typing from a phone. 'A' being next to 'S' and 'R' being next to 'T'.

"Being that you cant even spell the name..." I'm not sure how the word 'cant' fits into that sentence. It has a completely different meaning to the work 'can't'. Now I'm sure it was accidental, but then again, probably just bad grammar. It's not like you mistakenly hit the neighbouring key i.e. 'can;t', as I did with an S and an A.

Now, can we be grown ups for a second. I'm assuming that you have no useful knowledge regarding my Smartscreen query, although you did open up the topic, so maybe you are using one currently? If so, does it work seamlessly?

I used to have a Lucas 6DA unit which enabled an intermittent function. This unit failed, actually it is the second failure over the years, so I thought I would try a newer unit in the form of the Smartscreen unit. This should have the bonus of variable intermittent, over the previous preset delay. I just can't get the delay to trigger and I wondered if any Mini owners were using this unit today and if so, trouble free?

As mentioned previously, a Google lead me to the previously linked page where Dan made a comment about a shortcoming with the unit. He hasn't seem to have posted in awhile, and while trying to PM him last night from my mobile for a more direct question, it didn't like it. This lead me to post a question on the forum hoping to rally any current Smartscreen users.

I have the SS01 unit (no automatic wash). Do Mini users have the same model?

This is the one I fitted: http://www.minispare...|Back to search  It really is very simple to fit and works beautifully.

That looks similar but more plug and play. I originally had a Lucas 6DA unit as mentioned earlier. That looks like it would have swapped it out without any wiring alterations. But as the Smartscreen uses crimps, I have unfortunately cut these connections off. A shame to spend 50 pound again but that's useful to know there is another one if needed.

My wipers work fine on slow and fast when there is no unit connected. When this unit is connected, the slow speed stutters which seems to be the issue and is causing a fault with any would be intermittent,

I have no experience of Smartscreen, but I'd be inclined to suspect issues wit the park switch. It's not going to be particularly friendly to modern digital electronics; when it actually makes 'n breaks the circuit will vary on the mechanics of wiper speed and friction (how wet the screen is etc.), and then there's the flyback current it earths to stop the motor dead.
