No Spark At The Plugs

Best Answer Minitrio , 01 March 2016 - 11:19 PM

Thanks for your advice guys, sorry for the late response, been busy with the unfortunate collapse of the Power Station, the other week.

So got round to testing the points and condenser tonight, immediately found the problem, the black cable from the condenser had broken off inside the dizzy, so fitted a new one and everything is running great :-)

Hi ,

The other day, my 89 998, spluttered, cut out and died. Fired back up, then cut out as soon as I engaged the clutch, it did this twice. Fortunately I was about 1/2 mile from home, so got a quick tow home.

So took a look at her, but now she wont fire up, starter motor engages and engine turns over, but doesnt fire. I put a spark tester on the plug, which showed no spark. The dizzy cap and arm have been replaced, no spark, checked the positive feed of the coil, which showed 13.3v. Changed the coil, because I had a spare one still no spark. Checked and cleaned the ignition leads, still no spark.

Not sure what to check next, any help would be greatly appreciated.

As David suggested, look at the points and condenser.  Points can close up over time and eventually get to the point where the engine may be impossible to start.
