Hey, I've been on the forum for a while now and haven't really posted anything so I thought I'd start a project thread of my Mini. This won't be a full strip and rebuild kind of project. I'm 17 and haven't got the money for that just yet. I'll start with when I got the car and slowly update until I get to where I am now, which should keep me busy... Enjoy :)

I went to pick up my Mini after turning 16, I paid £1800 and took a trip from Kent to Newcastle to pick up. It turned out to be a 26 hour round trip as we broke down on the way home, but it was defiantly a trip to remember.

Anyway, here it is (before it broke down)

and here it is at around 3am being towed home

I loved it and called it Fred... Nothing much happened for a week or two, just lots of cleaning and polishing

Here's Fred at his first show, the IMM 2014 in Kent, a brilliant weekend! (He's the red one on the right)

It was August and my 17th was at the end of June next year, so I put Fred in the garage for a while with my Dads Project Mk1 "Dennis"

The small changes made so far were the chrome GB badge and the Mini Boot Badge, I wasn't a fan of the Clear light lenses or the exhaust. I loved the look of Mk2 lenses, for the meantime I left it with the coloured lenses I had, which look much better.

Fred still looked very plain, I wanted to add my own touch. I always loved the look of Race/Rally style Minis and that's what my intention was.

It was a painful wait over Winter but the time finally came to get Fred back out of the Garage and to the MOT station ready for London to Brighton 2015. He failed on several different things, but my Dad came to the rescue and welded up and fixed everything wrong with him (thanks Dad :P)

Here we are at the London to Brighton Mini run, where we broke down again.. a little bit more serious than last time though. The subframe had split where it was so rotten, I have no clue how it passed the MOT, but we never made it to Brighton... (I also added Over-Riders for a more retro look, which work quite nicely.

Here's the YouTube video I made:

Here are a few more pictures:

This photo really shows where the car has fallen thanks to that rotten subframe

Thanks, Matt
